Turkey is equally famous for its knotted carpets and its kilims. They have very diverse designs ranging from the simple nomadic kilim to the highly ornate ballroom carpet. Turkey is also famed for its prayer rugs. Nowadays Turkish rugs tend to be made of very fine homespun wool using mainly geometric patterns and vegetable dyes. Turkey also makes the finest silk carpets (Hereke and Keyseri).
